The athlete’s head and the results
In the current issue of the "Polityka" weekly Bogusław Leśnodorski shares an expert opinion in an article by Ryszard Wolff about the problems experienced by contemporary sport celebrities.
- I can bet that 90% of athletes are struggling with various types of mental problems because only few are capable of withstanding the pressure and life under constant stress.
He adds however, that a well organised club ought to know everything about the athlete it intends to acquire. – If a football player with hundreds of days in the locker room and in the playing or training field behind him, living in a circle of people who know each other well, has a bout of depression, for instance, I can guarantee that it would come as no surprise to his employer.
A positive conclusion from the article is that openness and honesty increasingly pay off for sport celebrities.
